Electric Tapestry

An experimental prototype, Electric Tapestry is a future-gazing, audience-driven AV experience. An interactive generative data-artwork derived from heritage content related to, in this first instance, Brighton.

Participants have been given access to a vast database to find, amplify and re-mix historical records in collaboration with a future positive AI called AIA. The result of which will be an intricate tapestry, a collective, hybrid, human/AI design.

In collaboration with Ombeond. Commissioned by Brighton Dome and Brighton Festival in coordination with Digital Catapult.

GUIDED BY AI

The main character, called AIA, guides the audience through the show. Below is a sample from the onboarding section, encountered at the outset.

we placed the audience in an imagined future AND testED various INTERACTIONS with this prototype experience.

Electric tapestry at Brighton Dome

We created a series of palyful interactive experiments exploring ways to control and effect narrative based AV content. 3 people could interact at the same time, each with their own sense of agency. Some experiments were collective, others were individual. We wanted to test our assumptions around using novel forms of interactions like these in a live environment, as well as developing the foundations for a future immersive experience.
